- I just received my Apollo 3060 (MC68060/F-SCSI-II) for desktop Amiga 3000.
- I followed the installation instructions (in german...) but it did not
- work. The hardware installation concerns the accelerator board and a patch
- to the WD SCSI controller.
-
- With the SCSI-patch but without the accelerator the A3000 doesn't boot at
- all, nothing happens.
-
- With the SCSI-patch and with the accelerator nothing happens as in the
- above case.
-
- With the accelerator but without the SCSI-patch the power LED flashes.
- Could this be the Apollo boot ROM telling me about some error?
-
- I think it is the SCSI-patch that doesn't work, I have seen another
- message here about resoldering the SCSI-patch directly to the accelerator.
- I got some more information from the sender (Hi Chucky) but don't really
- know why the patch is needed or why it currently doesn't work.
-
- The patch consists of coupling the 8:th pin (A1) (address bus bit 2) from
- one of the Kickstart ROM's to the 19:th pin (A0) (address bus bit 1) of the
- WD SCSI-chip. Chucky told that he had to get the signal directly from the
- Apollo fastslot contacts, I am not 100% sure which pin he means but it
- probably was an address bit (A(2) of the fast slot bus). Chucky mentioned
- something about fixing a DMA problem, but I have not had any DMA problems
- with my bare A3000 so this has something to do with the Apollo and its
- SCSI controller (from AMD?).
-
- Is there any help out there?
-
- Are the engineers from Apollo reachable via email?
- Or maybe the read this newsgroup?!?
-
